A FEW WORDS FROM
Waruni
Hello, my name is Waruni. I’m 28 years old and a proud mother of three beautiful children—two sons and a daughter. We’ve been living at the FRP shelter for the past three months. It’s a safe space where we are slowly rebuilding our lives with hope and dignity.
One of my favorite things to do is handmaking greeting cards. I especially enjoy the peaceful mornings when we share breakfast and prayer time with friends, Saya, and Sayama. It’s a comforting routine that brings a sense of community to my days.
When I sew the cards, I love listening to music—it soothes me and helps me forget my worries, even just for a little while. I also enjoy weaving bags, another craft that brings me joy. Each time you buy one of my handmade cards, you’re not just buying something beautiful—you’re helping support my family and keeping my dreams alive.
My biggest hope is to see my children grow up to become a teacher, a soldier, and a nurse. I want their futures to be full of possibilities—not hardship.
Someday, I dream of opening a small snack shop so I can earn a living while staying close to my children. Being near them while working would mean the world to me—and it feels more possible because of your support.
One of the bravest and proudest decisions I’ve made was finding the strength to leave my abusive husband. It wasn’t easy, but it gave me and my children a new beginning.
From the bottom of my heart—thank you. Your kindness, your purchases, and your belief in us truly make a difference. Even a small income from these cards brings happiness and hope into our lives.
